Crisis Utility Assistance

The Arkansas Energy Office has announced that LIHEAP Winter Crisis ONLY (not regular) will be extended and re-open starting May 17th. This program will remain open until June 30th or until funds are depleted. Funding is extremely limited, so households will need to apply at their earliest convenience beginning May 17, 2021.

1)   A household cannot receive crisis assistance if they have received crisis assistance in the winter program that closed on April 30, 2021.

2)   You can only receive assistance if you have a past due balance, shut-off notice, disconnected, need utilities transferred, up for eviction and utilities are included, or your propane tank is at 10% or below.

3)   If your utility company is offering a COVID DPA, this must be in place in order to receive assistance. You will need to contact your utility company and ask them for a COVID DPA. This will be utility companies that are under the public service commission and not municipalities such as Jonesboro CWL, Paragould Light Water and Cable, West Memphis Utilities, and Augusta City Light Water and Gas.

4)   You must have your application fully completed with all documents needed in order to submit it to be processed. We will not be able accept applications that are not fully completed. This also means if you have water, sewer, trash, other non-electric items, or a balance above $500 (if your utility company isn't offering a COVID DPA), you will need to pay those items before you submit your application.

Applications can be submitted via email at liheap.info@crdcnea.com, through fax at 870-972-0078, or by contacting their county office to see if drop-off might be an option. Do not mail applications due to the time it might take to arrive and limited funding available.

If you have questions, please contact by email at liheap.info@crdcnea.com, Facebook Messenger, your county office, or the main office in Jonesboro at 870-802-7100 or 870-333-5133. The application is available at Utility Assistance (LIHEAP) - Crowley's Ridge Development Council (crdcnea.org), or contact your county office about picking one up if needed.
