This city is in desperate need of an improved drainage system. There needs to be be more drainage piping, channels, and drains. The city needs to hire a talented hydraulic engineer that can develop a plan and put it into action. A child almost died in the flooding on May 24, 2016. On south Culberhouse Street, north of Nettleton in the West End neighborhood, a number of houses were flooded and multiple cars got stuck in flood waters. Commercial areas and major streets were a wreck. The flooding on May 24th was particularly bad, but it was not a solitary event. Flooding is far too common of occurrence. If this city is really serious about improving quality of life and bringing in business, it needs to do something about its drainage problem. At the very least it should put the idea and way to fund it up for a vote.

Hey Neighbors. I just picked up my new Bolt EV from Central Chevrolet. it’s really cool technology, it feels good to embrace this technology. We don’t really have any infrastructure in Jonesboro to accommodate new technologies, in particular EV Technology. Could we consider adding charge stations?

I feel like there should be an ordinance against unnecessarily removing trees for new developments. I know this would be difficult to enforce but we have a duty to keeping this city beautiful. Perhaps pass an ordinance requiring developers to replant as many trees as are removed. This would ensure we don't lose as much greenery. Another idea could be that if it's not feasible to replant as many trees they're still required to pay a fee per adult tree which could go towards growing and maintaining our community gardens or possibly adding a community orchard which could benefit our citizens for generations to come.

The recent ice and forecasted show is a real threat to safe travel. Our vehicular ABS systems are getting a real workout. Jonesboro is now a large municipality, the city can no longer go into “don’t go out” mode. What is our infrastructure plan to acquire the equipment and resources to keep the subdivision roads safe. Some subdivisions get plow service (2 based on KY8 online article), mine is still ice though. True, salt won’t work at the cold temps we’re seeing however a bit of sand goes a long way. The city is growing, as more subdivision roads are created, the ratio of plow and sand spreader trucks to miles of city streets keeps shrinking. Let’s make a plan and put it into motion please. In the north, trash trucks double as plow trucks in winter.

The traffic in our city has become too much. I believe there should be an outside study done on traffic light timing & routine. Some green lights run you into a red & cause a jam while others do not provide enough time for traffic to properly flow. No 2 lights that are near each other even have the same routine, which also causes issues. PLEASE consider having the citys traffic flow studied & improved. I've lived in cities with well over a million residents with MUCH better traffic.
