City Attorney

Carol Duncan is the City Attorney for the City of Jonesboro and does criminal prosecution on misdemeanors only.

Misdemeanors

Misdemeanors can be traffic violations given by police officers, contempt of court, or by an affidavit. Affidavits for summons on criminal prosecution of alleged criminal acts can be filed in the City Attorney's office by the victim. Alleged criminal acts may include:

  • Criminal mischief
  • Domestic battery
  • Harassing communications
  • Harassment
  • Thefts less than $1000

Court Days & Laws

Defendants scheduled for trial or first appearance need to appear at 9:00 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Witnesses for trials will appear at either 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. on the date of trial, please consult your subpoena to be sure of the time you need to appear.
